Gabby Douglas took some heat on Tuesday. Team USA gymnastics superstar Gabby Douglas says took part in the gold medal victory in All Around competition. As Douglas stood next to her teammates she was scrutinized for not holding her right hand over her heart during the pledge of allegiance.
Douglas immediately took to social media apologizing for not placing her hand over her heart and says she never meant any disrespect. She took to Twitter to express her sorrow by saying “I apologize if I offended anyone.”
“In response to a few tweets I saw tonight, I always stand at attention out of respect for our country whenever the national anthem is played,” Douglas wrote.
“I never meant any disrespect and apologize if I offended anyone. I’m so overwhelmed at what our team accomplished today and overjoyed that we were able to bring home another gold for our country.”
