- Janay Lewis was born in raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a
young girl, she would always go to her grandmother’s house to play in her
clothes, jewelry, and makeup. She never left empty-handed. She always stood out
from all the rest but could not understand why. Later she found out that it was
not because she did not fit in, but it was because she was the one to STAND OUT!
Janay began her career making jewelry and became her own “Walking
Mannequin”. People would ask her where she got her earrings and when she told
them they were amazed! She knew she was creative talented in many ways, but
never thought to share her one of kind handcrafted pieces.
Her dreams started to come true when she started making earrings
for her close friends. They would ask her to decorate them in different colors
and styles to wear out on special occasions and fashion shows. During the
process she realized how much joy she received from being able to make other
feel beautiful. It was a feeling she never felt before, and from that moment on
she knew that she would take her distinctive earring collection to the next level.
The brand STARkandi was created for young ladies who love to
shine like a star and stand out with bright colors and unique designs. Dare to
be different girl, because you’re a STAR!
