A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one Action.
As of late, I've been spending a lot of time working with other like-minded entrepreneurs who have had a difficult time moving from ideas to action.
Truly, I do empathize but I cannot say that I can relate. Actually, I'm quite the opposite. I really have an addiction to transforming concepts and ideas into a concrete, physical reality. This is probably why branding gets me so excited. Having the power to alter the perception of the viewer, reader, customer, etc. is extremely fascinating to me.
All I can truly say is that you MUST think this way. You must be obsessed with wanting to see results. I do understand that you should focus mostly on actions and then the results will come, but the PASSION must come from wanting to see those results. I'm not saying this has to be your drive, but like I said, if you want to succeed, you must be obsessed with the end result. This way of thinking will eliminate the gap between thinking and doing that happens to most procrastinators i.e. mostly everyone, and probably you.
Another little head ache I've heard as of late is entrepreneurs saying that they are spending a lot of time working and not making any money from it.
Something I've learned from mentors and books is that if you are going to be a successful entrepreneur, you have to stop wasting your time on things that don’t make you money.
You have to learn how to "work" through your ideas at an incredibly fast rate. Something I've learned is not to spend too much time on things that don't work. Move fast and go through ideas at a rapid rate. As soon as something gives you a return on capital.. stop and sow that seed for a little bit.
Basically, focus on how you are spending your time. If you are spending your time on things that don’t make you money, you won't continue to consistently work on it till it becomes a success. The reality of the situation is working on a "project" or "start up" that brings in zero capital or some sort of return is called a hobby. Basically, (and I apologize for bursting your little entrepreneurial dream bubble)if you're spending countless hours committed to
activities that bring in no revenue, you are not running a business no matter how much time you are putting into it.
I know, I know.. but you spent all this money trying to make this blog happen, and you did all this research on this plant that is going to totally make the most killer juice out there.. I know what it feels like to be attached to your idea. It's kind of like your child. But ya gotta let it go. I'm not saying forget about it, but if the goal is revenue then you need to focus on projects that are going to get you revenue in the next, like, I don't know.. month? What do we call this? Knowing the value of your time.
A successful entrepreneur knows exactly what measurable results they want from a particular activity.
Hope this helps.
