Meagan Good On Marriage: "One Thing I Would Say To All Women Is Don’t Settle."

Newly wed Meagan Good has some advice for single women looking for Mr. Right.

Meagan wants women who are looking to get married to know that there are still some good men out there and that they need to wait on the man God has designed for them.

On a quest for love, some women are willing to relax their standards a little just to say they have a man and Meagan said she just wasn't willing to do that. Too many people settle for what they consider to be "good enough."

“Sometimes…you make what you think are sacrifices because you see there’s potential here, or this person has it in their heart there’s just got to be some growing."

Like most women, Meagan has kissed a few frogs in her day and was happy to meet her now husband, DeVon Franklin, and is absolutely in love with the man he is and is still smitten by him even though the honeymoon is over.

“It’s been pretty amazing,” Meagan said of married life. “He is absolutely the most incredible thing that’s happened to me. We want the same thing out of life and that’s important."

She goes on to talk about how the both of them want to a closer relationship with God and how their walk with Christ makes their relationship so strong.

@Nikiyi: I used to be ashamed as well.. Feel like it's something I did wrong that I failed. Not saying I'm perfect because I'm FAR from that, but I know the kind of woman I am. Sharing does really empower me as well.. We all have a story.. Anything hidden won't get healed.. you never know how you might help someone else get out of a bad situation by sharing.. they might feel like they couldn't do it but saw you do it and think to themselves "I can do it too.. I can make it too." You're welcome and thanks for sharing with me as well.. You've helped me know that I can move on too :)

@Meiqua @Ms Freebands I totally agree ladies! It feels so much better to see that you are not the only person going through it & that others can relate to your pain. There is truly a lot of shame that follows you after experiencing situations like this & by sharing your pain you empower yourself to not let it defeat you & in the process help someone else that maybe going through a similar situation. Thanks ladies

@Ms. Freebands: Yes we really do. Over the last year or so I've met sooo many positive women and they are doing great things. I'm like why am I still here dealing with this mess that's dragging me down.. I don't need that! I need a man that's like me.. Loyal, motivated, ready to start a family and build an empire with me for our family.. It's time out for settling! Like I always say: Life is too short to be anything but happy. You can take anything you want from me but I REFUSE to let you take my happiness.

@Ms Freebands: I definitely understand that! I took my stand last year... We've been separated ever since... Since I don't see any effort or improvement that are up to MY standards, this year I'm calling it quits.. I'm 31, no kids, own business, pretty girl, dropping weight and am a very loyal chick, someone else would be happy to have me. I used to be scared to move on but at this point I'm more scared of continuing to be a FOOL!!! I want a family and I'm not getting any younger! I'm not for settling just to say I have a MAN!!! I feel like I've settled too long already!

@Ms Freebands: I feel you on that.. Going through something similar been with the same man almost 7yrs married 5.5.. No kids thank GOD so I get a fresh start when we do part ways... People only do what you allow and when you settle you allow them to tear you down literally!!! Even though I don't want to be alone, I'm too old to keep settling!!! I love him to pieces but I love ME more!!!
