Is Michelle Obama The Reason For The Media's Obession With Black Women???

Every time you turn around, there is something being said in the media about black women. You've probably learned more about black women in the last four years than you have all your life. We're singlerefuse to marry outside our racethick and proud, and let's not forget the most unattractive women on the planet. Not to mention our kinky, curly unattractive hair that we are obsessed with and spend tons of money on.

As a black woman, I've learned quite a bit about myself that I never realized. The reason being is because it's not true. One thing I do know is that there weren't so much concern about black women until Michelle Obama became the first lady. But now, we're the hottest thing in the media.

The first lady of the United States has been under close watch as it related to fashion, case in point Jackie Kennedy, but never this close. It's like since Michelle Obama became first lady, there has been so much focus on the BLACK woman.

Although Michelle Obama is the FLOTUS, her presence is very different from Barack's. His multiracial roots don't compare to those of Michelle's because of her complicated ancestry filled with horror stories and a history of kidnapping, rape and forced servitude. She's a descendant of slaves. Michelle too has multiracial roots, but for some reason America wants to forget as Barack focused on her background rather than his own during his "A More Perfect Union" speech on race.

Michelle Obama has really changed the game for black women. For hundreds of years, the FLOTUS has been white women but now she's the face of womanhood in America. She has brought successful, well-rounded women to the surface. Now women that were once invisible to the world have the opportunity to sip tea with the Queen of England and hula hoop on the White House lawn.

She has set the mode for every black woman in America and changed a lot of stereotypes that have been swirling for hundreds of years. Although they've done everything they could to try and make a mockery out of her, she still remains unparalleled by any other First Lady's tenure. Michelle is a walkingn contradiction of the picture the world has painted of the black woman and that's what set the media off. They since have launched a full investigation on black women's lives because for years they have been demographically wrong.

After years of media slamming, stereotypes and scrutiny, The Washington Post just deemed us complicated. Would it hurt them to ask us about us???

I guess it's true, people love to hate what they don't understand!

Now we're complicated.  Bless mainstream media's heart.  I see it this way.  Clearly we are so awesome it's hard to figure out how we do what we do.  I mean the media has done eveything they can to tarnish the image of black women and instead of us becoming the stereotype that would be comfortable we become greatness.  We're not complicated...we are just that awesome.  Let them continue to scratch their head and try to figure us out.  It's actually funny to watch.
