BossChicks Exclusive: Tiffany Maiyon of VH1's Tough Love New Orleans

BossChicks.com recently caught up withTiffany Maiyon from VH1′s Tough Love New Orleans. She is best known for being kicked off the show during the fourth episode for allegedly lying about being married.  She was also known for exposing Melissa’s virginity to a group of potential suitors.

VH1 has even removed her bio and Episode 4 from their website. Despite what you’ve seen, Tiffany is a much different person now. She wants to brand herself a business woman , actress and a woman capable of finding love on her own.

What happened on ‘Tough Love New Orleans’ ? They asked you to leave because they thought you were still married?

My divorce was final before I was cast to do Tough Love. My divorce became final in December of 2011, and I was cast later that same month. By January 2012, I was flown to New Orleans to start taping the show.

I told Patrick,  the show’s producer, about my situation and they were fully aware I was newly divorced and had kids. When Steve asked my ex-husband, he lied to him and said we were still legally married. My ex-husband didn’t want me to move on and meet someone new.We had a tumultuous marriage.

Do you think the producers of the show pretended not to know because being a surprise would be better for the show?

They knew my situation. Then Steve acted like he didn’t know about it. They used the situation to their advantage and act like they were surprised. They edited the footage to make it look like I was crying about being found out. In reality, Steve asked me about my brother who recently passed away. That’s why I started crying, but they edited that part out.

I don’t know what makes Steve Ward an authority on love and relationships. He’s not in a relationship, how he gonna tell me how to find love?  I even asked him that on the show, but they edited that part out too. Steve Ward is not some love guru!

Have you gotten any public backlash from what happened on the show?

People were very angry at me. I got nasty emails, some them contained racial slurs. I even had to shut down my website for a little while because of it. There have been some people who gave me positive feedback as well. One of my Twitter followers told me she respected and looked up to me for the way I’ve handled myself. I couldn’t believe it! Like, I felt so honored.

Do you think you went on a dating show way too soon after the divorce, especially with 2 kids and a baby?

I admit I wasn’t emotionally ready to be on the show. At the time, I felt like I needed a distraction. I needed something to do.

How has life changed for you since your departure from Tough Love?

I recently moved with my kids to Atlanta. I have been doing club appearances and meeting fans. I’ve also done an alcohol endorsement. Before the show, I was a model and fashion stylist. I have my own business called Imagine You Image Consulting.

What projects are you working on that are coming up in the future?

At some point, I’d really like to get into acting.  Right now, I’m working on getting my own show right now. I have a TV network who is very interested in my show, but I can’t say which network. The show will be about me, the kids , my business and dating life. I have two girls, 13 and 11 years old, and a 20-month-old boy. The girls are very excited about the show.

How has dating been since your divorce and being on the show?

Dating is nerve racking. Because I was married for so long, I don’t really know how to date. The rules of dating like should I call, or should I give him my number, or should I take his number gets confusing.

How have you changed as a person by your experience on Tough Love?

I’m usually a very private and secretive person. I was callous and hard. I’m a much softer person and more honest now.  It changed me to be more open and not worry about what people think of me.

Looks like Tiffany  has had a lot of emotional growth from her experience. She still keeps in touch with Shalana and Danielle from the show. She’s got her business, her new show, and her kids to keep her grounded. This is one Boss Chick on the move.
