Chrissiefizz Catches up with Rasheeda (Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta)
Chrissie: Hi Rasheeda, how are you?
Rasheeda: I’m good, how are you?
Chrissie: I’m good, it’s a little bit warm in London and it’s normally raining.
Rasheeda: Oh, that’s good. It’s always warm in Atlanta!
Chrissie: Lucky for some! So I’m just gonna jump right in and ask you a few questions about music, business and Reality TV if that’s ok with you.
We are all loving your new single ‘Marry Me’, how have you managed to maintain consistency in your sound over the years?
Rasheeda: By just doing me. You know, I stay in Rasheeda’s lane. I stay in my zone and try to have fun with it. When you’ve been in the business for a while and you’re working on music, you know, you just wanna kind of get into a place where you know, you’re really able to enjoy it and I don’t try to beat myself up about ‘I need to make this type of song or that type of song’ I just do me and that’s just how it goes down.
Chrissie: How do you think the music industry has changed since you first started your career?
Rasheeda: Oh my God, we could talk forever about that! From the way that different type of
music has been put out there, the way that record production has changed, the way the Internet has taken over the game. I mean, there’s a variation but at the end of the day, music is that universal language that people want to hear and love and whether they are downloading it for free or buying the singles and albums, whatever they’re doing, you know- it’s just so powerful and strong and it’s gonna always be here regardless of how they cop it.
Chrissie: And who would you like to collaborate with right now?
Rasheeda: I would have to say Jay-Z, Kanye, Beyonce, Ne-yo, Rihanna. The List goes on but that’s just the name of the game.
Chrissie: Are there any collaborations in the near future that we should look out for?
Rasheeda: Definitely me and my girl Kandi. My next single which is called ‘Legs to the moon’ features Kandi, of course from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, formerly of the group Xscape and you never know who I might work with- you’ve just gotta stay tuned to Rasheeda and what Rasheeda is doing!
Chrissie: As an artist, you have a versatile look and sound, who would you say is your style icon?
Rasheeda: You know what, I really don’t have a specific one. There’s a couple of people who I look at and be like ‘Okay, she does that!’ I would have to say: Gwen Stefani, Rihanna definitely does it, Kate Moss does it. There are a lot of females who just have effortless style.
Chrissie: As a Fashion Designer, I’m always interested to see how other artists express themselves, what was your inspiration behind ImBossy.com?
Rasheeda: It was just that I’m a firm believer that accessories can make an outfit and I love to accessorize, I love jewellery and I really wanted to bring it to the forefront. It’s something that I had thought about for a long, long time and hadn’t really moved on it. And finally you have to tell yourself okay, don’t just talk about it, be about it. So I put it together and I love accessories that are fun and fly and unique and they speak. That’s exactly what Imbossy.com is all about. The T-Shirts are all lyrics from my song. You can also buy music, you can get your shades. I will be adding other things as well and continuing to grow imbossy.com.
