I am a big time believer in the belief that what you bring to your life stems from what you bring to other people’s lives. My mindset works like this: if I want help in my businesses, I need to help others in theirs. If I want to make a good income, I must give away. If I want to love the way I look, I must feed my body the correct nutrients. If you want a certain outcome in your life, try these acts and see how your life starts to excel:
- Take a minute to grab your own shopping bags to take to the grocery store.
- Empower an entrepreneur in a developing country with a $25 loan through Kiva to help eliminate poverty.
- If you’ve discovered a great little restaurant or store, spread the word. The business and whomever you tell will benefit.
- Drop by a nursing home and sit and talk with an elderly person who doesn’t have a visit.
- Make a list of small things you can do around your house to conserve energy and water, stop waste, and recycle. Then start doing them.
- Be a Designated Driver. Your friends will greatly appreciate it. Trust me.
- Buy the person in front of you a cup of coffee! In line at Starbucks? Just step up and say “that one’s on me!”
- Standing in a long line at the grocery store with a full car, while the person behind you has some laundry detergent? C’mon, let ‘em go first.
- Coach a Youth’s sports team or counsel at a kids summer camp. Those kids really do remember you forever.
- Share inspirational quotes. Is it not the easiest thing in the world to update your facebook status? Before you update your status with a complaint about your job, turn it around and post something that motivated you to feel better about the situation. It just might be what someone needed to read that day.
- Talk less, listen more…really listen.
- Leave a generous tip. Coming from a waitress, it truly is appreciated.

- Buy your boss lunch.
- Offer a couple of hours of free babysitting to some parents.
- Bring your co-workers coffee.
- Is someone in your life stressed? Join Groupon and buy them a massage for 50% off

- Plant a tree! Create more oxygen for the world

- Did you just watch a waiter or waitress get walked out on? Offer to pay the tab.
- Hold the door for people behind you, especially if the person behind is carrying packages, bags or kids.
- Make soup for a friend recovering from surgery or an illness. Cooking is the last thing you feel like doing when you aren’t feeling 100%.
- Take your sibling’s kids out for the day – to the movies, frozen yogurt, for a hike. The parents could probably use a break and the kids will love it.
- Pay for the person behind you at the drive thru. It will make someone’s day!
- Buy the guy next to you at the bar his favorite beer.
- Help a child learn!
- Save plastic by buying a water bottle with a filter in it!! These are so amazing. I have one myself and use it daily.
- Are your friends super busy and stressed over the little tasks they don’t have time to complete in their lives? Offer to complete one of the tasks for them, like doing their laundry, dropping off their mail, or picking up lunch for them.
- Compliment someone.
- Collect canned food for a food bank.
- If you borrow a car, fill up the tank right before you return it.
- Be grateful. Being grateful opens up opportunities and breaks down your resistance to wealth, allowing abundance to flow to you.
- Help people think big. Learn how to cheer someone on when they throw out a crazy goal. “You should do that!” “You should start that blog, you should get your Ph.D. like you’ve been talking about, you should do that marathon, you should start that business.” Sometimes one encouraging comment can have life-changing effect on someone’s life.
- Act the way you want to feel. It will turn around and start having an effect on you.
- Have a great income and want to make an impact? Become an angel investor.
I hope these examples inspire you to take action and excel!
