Inner Circle Watch: 1 in 4 Women Admit to Posting Unflattering Photos of Friends on Facebook, On Purpose

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Nowadays you really have to be careful of your inner circle because those who you think care the most about you could be your worst enemy.

As I've gotten older, I realized that my mom was right about a couple of the "friends" I thought I had. It truly amazes me how people will pretend to care about you while all along secretly hating on you on the sideline. I've never understood that because when I'm friends with someone, I truly value my friendship and no matter what there isn't any sort of jealously or envy coming from my way. It's sad that people will be in your inner circle just to see what you're doing so they can hate on you. You seriously have to be careful of those around you. I guess that's why I don't really have any friends now. Thank God for my sisters because we're more than sisters, we're best friends.

According to gawker.com:

Out of 1,500 women surveyed by the photo gift website Mymemory.com, one in four said they've deliberately uploaded "ugly photos of friends" to Facebook, though had different reasons for doing so.

Of those responding positively to the question, one in three claimed they were doing so out of retribution for a similar slight made against them. A majority of the rest said they had fallen out with the friend in the photo.

75% of participants said they were in the habit of detagging themselves from photos they felt were unflattering, but a fifth of women said they were not swayed by a friend's request to have the photos removed from Facebook.

A full two-thirds would get mad if a friend were to post an unkind photo of them to the site.

"To see that so many women deliberately commit ‘photo sabotage' and upload unflattering pictures of friends is somewhat surprising," said MyMemory co-founder Rebecca Huggler, "particularly when you consider how many said they'd be mad if the same was done to them."

An earlier survey conducted by the site found that Brits are drunk in the vast majority of the photos that appear on Facebook. Some 76% of nearly 1,800 Facebook users polled said they were at one stage or another of inebriation in most of the photos in which they were tagged.

WOW!!! I don't know why I was really surprised, but as they say, the people that hate you the most are those closest to you! Be mindful of who's in your inner circle.

@Takeya: WOW!!! Sometimes family are your worst enemies seriously.. I know exactly where you're coming from with that. Like I always say: They say keep your friends close and your enemies closer. How close do you keep your family if they're your worst enemy?

Really interesting.  And, I have to believe, true, because I once checked a close family member's photos and surprisingly I saw a pic of myself I didn't even know had been taken.  It upset me and I reached out to the individual at 1st via text telling her to take the pic down b/c it wasn't attractive.  I even asked her why she chose to put that one up when I knew she had better quality pics of me.  But when I look back on the past coupled with reading an article like this in the present, I can put 2 and 2 together and now say, she knew exactly what she was doing.  And family, isn't excluded from the "inner circle".

@Shunda: WOW!!! That's crazy! You'll definitely find out who your friends are when it comes to things like this! I really hate that happened to you girl, but at least now you know!

@Ms. Toni: Exactly. You have to be very mindful of those you hang around!

@Tantasy: LOL! Yes, it really would be pondering lol!

@Adrienne: I'm the same way. If it's not business related I'm pretty much only hanging with my sisters! I have a few close friends whom I trust would never do anything like this but other than that I'm solo dolo lol.

As I've gotten older I pretty much stick to myself. Because I got tired of people who you thought was in your corner, come to find out they stab you in the back with a knife and twist it.

So mean. Obviously, that's not a true friend.

Ok this topic hits close to home for me. The night of my bachelorette party my maid of honor who was my best friend at the time had taken pics and videos of me and my party on our night out. The next morning she posted everything. My matron of honor was pissed. Unlike my maid of honor we both worked in a professional field and even though the pics were not that bad, they were bad enough. Then to top it off she tagged us in them so everyone who was friends on our pages could see them. Well later I found out that this person was not the friend I thought she was and I realized why she did this...She was jealous of our success and was trying to jeopardize it.
