Relationship Discussion: Would You Date A Man For More Than 6 Months? Jill Scott Says Absolutely Not! Here’s Why:Singer and actress Jill Scott recently revealed in an interview with ABC News Radio that she has no intent in dating passed six months! Scott explains her six-month rule and what changed her perception on relationships. Jill-Scott “I’m older now so I see a little bit better than I did before. My longest relationships now are about nine months. Actually, now it’s grown to six months.” Jill Scott has had her personal experiences with love and relationships. The singer divorced in 2007 after a six-year marriage and became engaged in 2008, only to call it quits nearly a year after being engaged and shortly after the birth of her son. Scott also is experienced in the on-screen love scene, having appeared in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married, and now in With This Ring. While on her love journey, Scott has felt it necessary to exercise a six-month cutt-off period for relationships.
Scott explained her theory during the interview:
There’s no need for me to waste my time or anybody else’s. I know by then. If you make it over the six month hump, you have done something. I must really like you.” In a metaphoric explanation, she revealed that self-love is the motive for her outlook on relationships: “You can hold your stomach in for four hours, but you can’t hold it in forever. You have to be who you are and you have to genuinely love who you love in order to have a lasting marriage. Getting married is one thing; staying married is something else.” Let’s Discuss!
