After Closing A Historic Deal On A $8.3M Hotel, This Mom Bought Two More At Age 34!
Aug 07, 2023“I never imagined that I could own a hotel, and now I own three! It's an indescribable feeling knowing that I am living my ancestors' wildest dreams." Meet Davonne Reaves, mother, author, and real estate investor π¨ποΈββ
She recently expanded her portfolio by adding two new hotels in partnership with Nassau Investments. The new additions include a Staybridge Suites in Fishers, Indiana, courtesy of Intercontinental Hotel Group, one of the world's largest hotel brands, and a Hampton Inn & Suites situated in Scottsburg, Indiana!
These acquisitions, with a combined value of $18 million, propel Reaves to the status of a co-owner of three hotel properties in under a year!
With over a decade and a half in the hospitality industry, Reaves has been instrumental in helping 50 hotel investors jumpstart their careers. Two of her mentees are set to co-own hotel properties in 2022. As an experienced hotelier, Reaves is passionate about helping more people realize their dreams in the hotel industry.
The founder and chief hospitality strategist of Atlanta-based The Vonne Group, Reaves opens up about her accomplishment as a young Black woman in America. Speaking to Black News, she says, "I'm so attracted to this industry because hotel ownership and investment space help create generational wealth. It's a powerful tool for building wealth for yourself and your family; wealth that lasts for generations, as opposed to riches that are only temporary."
At 34, Reaves is a member of the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration Industry Advisory Board at the Robinson College of Business, her alma mater, Georgia State University.
Reaves, from a working-class background, majored in hospitality at Georgia State University. Though not initially planning to be a hotel investor, Reaves found herself partnering with her childhood friend, Jessica Myers, making them the youngest Black women to co-own a property within a major hotel chain.
Reaves and Myers, last year, formed an ownership group primarily composed of millennials and teamed up with Nassau Investments to acquire the Home2 Suites by Hilton El Reno, Oklahoma, located approximately 30 miles from Oklahoma City, as Black Business reported. Valued at around $8.3 million, the hotel deal was a dream realized for Reaves.
She reflected, "I never thought that by the time I was 33, I'd be a hotel owner. But I admit that it feels great to have accomplished that at this point in my life. Making history in the process, well, that's just icing on the cake!"
