Angela Yee Buys 30-Unit Detroit Apartment Building To Support Formerly Incarcerated Women
Aug 08, 2023Radio host Angela Yee makes a bold move in the Detroit real estate scene, securing a 30-unit building in the bustling Midtown area. Yee's vision? To dedicate 1/3 of this structure to serve as housing for formerly incarcerated women.
“It’s about providing a safe haven for those who truly need it,” Yee shared. “The battle for adequate housing post-incarceration is a struggle many face.”
Joining forces with Yee is Jasmine Brand and Dr. Topeka K. Sam, the force behind Ladies of Hope Ministries, a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting women post-incarceration.
“There's nothing more gratifying than hearing someone say, 'you changed my life,'” Yee confessed.
Dr. Sam, having experienced the prison system herself, now provides a lifeline to countless women re-entering society, extending her support network across multiple states. "The beauty of this venture is that we’re offering people a genuine shot at a new beginning," she enthused.
Jasmine Brand eagerly anticipates the development and growth of this project, stating, “I can't wait to watch this seed grow and bloom.”
Yee remains optimistic about the transformative power of the Midtown project. She explains, “If I've managed to carve my own path of success and financial stability, it's only right I use my platform to uplift others.”
The completion date for the project is set for May 2024 ππ½
