Growing up in the Crenshaw District, life wasn’t easy. Losing her sister at 10 and seeing her mom work countless hours just to make it, Benaisha saw the struggle firsthand, but she always had an unstoppable drive and credits her work ethic to her mother.
Benaisha Poole-Watson made a name for herself across the United States, recognized as being in the top 1% of realtors, with a record of selling over 400 homes annually! Not only is she known for her success in real estate sales, but Benaisha also wears the hats of a real estate investor, developer, and custom home builder. She's also the owner of The Bailey-Watson Real Estate Group with licensed agents across the nation!
Fast forward to 2021, Benaisha established the federally chartered bank, Prime One Lending Group And Home Loans, making it the FIRST Afro-Latina-owned FDIC bank! π¦
“I sell real estate— I didn’t think I would own and fully operate a bank of my own,” she told ESSENCE. “But I learned that I could hire the right team with know-how.”
Prime One Lending Group and Home Loans is a Fannie Mae-approved direct lender. As a direct lender, she sought a route to benefit underserved populations during the application process.
“I didn’t want any restrictions. I was able to create all of this on my own. When you’re creating your bank, if you get to that point where you’re able to do this, you have the ability to pick and choose how you want to run your programs… I chose to set a 580 credit score as my limit because I knew this is where minorities sat.”
Prime One Lending Group and Home Loans does not currently provide customers with a checking or savings account. However, Poole-Watson says there are plans to expand the company.
